Macrolibramiento second stage behind schedule

The second section of the Macrolibramiento (outer city ring road) will not be ready in time for its planned opening date later this month.

Motorists won’t be able to use the 25-kilometer section connecting the Guadalajara-Chapala highway to the Colima highway until June at the earliest, according to the federal Transport and Communications Secretariat (SCT).

Efforts are being made, however, to finish the outstanding five-kilometer stretch that connects the Zapotlanejo highway to the Guadalajara-Mexico City autopista by the first week of April, the SCT said.  This will complete the 30-kilometer segment running from the Chapala highway to the Mexico City toll road that opened in July of last year.

The SCT hopes to finish the remaining 56 kilometers of the 111-kilometer Marcolibramiento – from the Colima highway to the Tepic autopista – by the end of 2018.
