The cross that stood at the summit of Chapala’s Cerro de San Miguel for nearly a century collapsed during a fierce storm last summer.
A replacement was erected on Saturday, December 10 prior to a celebration of Mass conducted by San Francisco parish priest José Octavio Moreno Olivares. Full restoration of the site offering panoramic views of the town and lake beyond will eventually be carried out under the guidance of the National Institute of Anthropology and History.
