Final stretch of Jala-Puerto Vallarta toll road up & running

Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum officially inaugurated the final stretch of the Jala-Puerto Vallarta toll road, marking the completion of the Vía Corta (Short Route) between Guadalajara and Puerto Vallarta after nearly two decades of construction.

The completed toll road reduces driving time between Guadalajara and the coastal resort to just 2.5 hours. However, many travelers may still opt for the libre (free) road, as the tolls cost 1,300 pesos each way.

The new 33.2-kilometer section, which connects Bucerías with Puerto Vallarta, features eight bridges up to 300 meters long, 13 vehicular crossings, a toll booth, and a five-kilometer branch road leading to Puerto Vallarta International Airport.

Sheinbaum was joined at the inauguration by the governors of Nayarit and Jalisco, along with other federal and local officials.
