Anyone believing that the seasonal rains may reduce in frequency now that September has started should think again.
According to Mauricio López Reyes of the University of Guadalajara’s Astronomy and Meteorology Institute, above-normal rainfall should be expected throughout this month in most areas of Jalisco, along with generally cloudy and cool weather. He added, however, that the intensity of the rains depends on Pacific tropical cyclones and how close they pass Jalisco.
López Reyes said this year’s rains have been plentiful, with some meteorological stations—such as Arandas, Atotonilco, and Tepatitlán—registering more than double the amount of rainfall during August than is normally recorded.
