LLT to host one of the greatest operas

Lakeside Little Theatre (LLT) will host New York’s Metropolitan Opera’s acclaimed production of Mozart’s beloved “The Marriage of Figaro” (Le Nozze di Figaro) Sunday, May 18, and Monday, May 19, at 4 p.m.

pg20bSung in Italian with English subtitles, Figaro was filmed live at New York’s Metropolitan Opera House and will be experienced at LLT’s air-conditioned McIntosh Auditorium.

In Figaro, considered one of the greatest operas ever written, Mozart portrays a single “day of madness” as Figaro attempts to marry his love, Susanna, despite his nemesis’, Dr. Bartolo’s, machinations.

OperaWire called the Met Live production “an extraordinary work,” one that “pushes the boundaries of what an operatic theatrical experience can be.” The New York Classical Review said the cast “...adds seasoning, comedic spark to superb vocalism.”

Prior to each show at LLT, two local virtuosas, Margaret Strickland and Janeen Williams, will conduct special, short recitals on the theater’s Angel Terrace; so attendees are urged to arrive early.

Tickets,350 pesos, are available at lakesidelittletheatre.com.

Anyone purchasing at the box office with an INE card will receive a 100-peso discount.
