Christ Church Lakeside

Christ Church Lakeside—Anglican Church of Mexico.

How can someone tell that you are a Christian? Is the cross necklace you wear or how much you give to charity? Is it that you love your neighbor and your family? Jesus tells the disciples in the gospel of john 13:31-35, that it isn’t-He tells them (and us) that it is the act of loving one another as He loved us. Whoa! A tall order!

Jesus says it’s how they will know us as His disciples but are you ready to be beaten and crucified for the one who wants to sell you something when you just want to have your coffee in peace? Are you ready to love the person who has a different political view from yours? Can you love the drug dealers and child molesters as much as Jesus loves you? An impossible order? Need answers?

Join us as Rev. Danny Borkowski will bring the message this Sunday: ” Children of God”

In response to God’s grace and love and empowered by the Holy Spirit, we welcome all into our church family. Worship and Holy Eucharist begins at 10:30. Please stay for coffee and refreshments. This week we are having lunch together at Las Palmas and all are invited whether you attend church or not.

Tuesdays 1 p.m., join us at the church for a women’s Bible study

Eckankar

Everything revolves around love. It always does. No matter how much we rush about in this world and how harried, ambitious, or sorrowful we become, the world stays together for some reason. The reason is God’s love. It makes the whole work, even though sometimes it looks like nothing is working at all.

The two supreme laws are: God is love, and Soul exists because God loves it.

But how do you make this work out in everyday life? Whenever you’re in doubt about any action, ask yourself: Is it true? Is it necessary? Is it Kind? You can also ask, What would love do?

Meet with other like-minded Souls for open non-denominational spiritual discussions Tuesdays, 2 to 3:15 p.m. at the Lake Chapala Society.

Lake ChapalaBaptist Church

Join us in exploring a bible book highlighting God’s sovereignty, mercy, repentance, and His desire for His children’s obedience. This book tells of a man named Jonah whom God called to preach in the town of Nineveh. Jonah disobeyed and fled, but God pursued him with a storm and a great fish wherein Jonah repented and preached to Nineveh anyway.

God, in His mercy, spared the city. However, Jonah became angry, struggling with God’s compassion toward those he viewed as undeserving. Through a withering plant, God taught Jonah a lesson about mercy, showing that He cares deeply for all people.

As Christians, we learn that we cannot outrun God’s sovereign purpose and that obedience matters even when it’s hard. God is patient, offering second chances and desiring repentance over judgment. His mercy extends beyond our expectations, reminding us to align our hearts with His compassion and not just His commands.

But what is the abundant life, and how do we access it? That is the issue we will explore this Sunday! Come check us out!

Lakeside PresbyterianChurch

Pastor David Erickson will preach the sermon for Sunday, May 18 is “ When You’re Green You Grow and When You’re Ripe You Rot” from Psalm 92.

Does growing older mean becoming less productive or valuable? Do we all eventually just stop having any meaning in this world? God says it doesn’t have to be that way. You have a choice. “They shall bear fruit in old age, they will stay fresh and green.”

English language service begins at 10 a.m. and has temporarily relocated to, Constitución 26, in Ajijic, 2nd floor. Enter through the back garage area and walk upstairs to the service. There is also a small elevator at the front of the building for those with limited mobility. Join us for coffee and refreshments after the service.

Heritage Baptist Church

Romans 6:14 “you are not under law, but under grace”. This is difficult for some people to understand, especially if they have been raised in a religious system that stresses the law. The author of Hebrews was dealing with this exact situation of people yearning to return to ceremony and Law.

The book of Romans was written before the fall of the Temple which was still standing in all of its glory. The cross, the shameful, scandalous cross was no comparison to the glorious Temple.

A Hebrew Christian’s life was small groups, in back rooms, dodging Jewish gangs who would stone or beat them. What a major culture shock!

Some of the Christians were thinking of turning back to the ritualistic system, and the writer of Hebrews says, don’t you dare go back under the Old Testament law codes. Don’t go back to dietary restrictions or rigid man-made traditions.

We believe in, live for, and stand for pure grace in a religious world given to works.

There is nothing you can ever do to get yourself into Heaven. There is only one Person who can give you entrance, and it is Jesus Christ.
