Brought to life later this month by a talented cast at Bare Stage Theatre, Murray Schisgal’s “Luv” is a comic powerhouse, outrageous, sharp and irresistibly funny from start to finish.
Best known for co-writing the Oscar-nominated Tootsie, Schisgal infuses “Luv” with his signature wit and theatrical daring in this brilliantly unhinged love triangle. The play opens with a quiet, somber moment on a New York bridge, quickly spiraling into a whirlwind of romantic chaos, twisted schemes and laugh-out-loud neuroses. With crackling dialogue and non-stop pacing, the story explores the antics of hapless Harry, manipulative Milt, and no-nonsense Ellen, delivering both belly laughs and surprising emotional truths. Beneath its farcical surface, “Luv” offers a biting commentary on love, marriage and the desperate search for meaning.
