'Queen of Lake' greeted among fanfare
The Virgin of Zapopan made a regal entrance to Chapala last Sunday riding aboard a float adorned with a huge floral arrangement and life-size models of the recently sainted 20th century Popes John XXIII and John Paul II.
The only thing that depressed Glenda Lacy after she moved into her home on the upper Ajijic street of San Juan de las Colinas was the sight of acres of weeds choking the empty lots that studded her new neighborhood.
Summer rains have turned upper Ajijic’s Arroyo del Tepalo into a natural playground for local families.
Running teams representing Canada and the United States will arrive in Ajijic next week to vie for honors in the 2014 North American Central American Caribbean (NACAC) Mountain Championship.

The Lake Chapala Duplicate Bridge Club selected the University Vocational Assistance program (UVA) to be the beneficiary of 7,000 pesos the bridge players raised during their April “charity month.”
