The Jalisco Charros need to find a spectacular run of form if they have any realistic chance of making the Mexican Pacific League baseball playoffs, which begin in January.
The team are seventh in the eight-team table, three games back of the sixth placed team. Just two teams will not make the playoffs in January and unless they can find an uptick in form, the Charros are in real danger of being one of them.
The Charros have had a torrid time on the road this season and their fortunes did not improve after dumping coach Homar Rojas at the end of November. The two consecutive home series coming up on December 13-15 against Ciudad Obregon and December 16-18 against Hermosillo, represent a final opportunity for the local ball club to prolong their season.
Weekday games at the Charros Estadio de Beisbol in Zapopan (two blocks from the Auditorio Telmex) start at 7:15 p.m. The game on Saturday, December 17 will begin at 5 p.m. and the one on Sunday, December 18 at 1 p.m.
Tickets are available at the stadium (also on day of game), or from Ticketmaster, either online, by phone or at metro-area outlets. It’s a good atmosphere, even when the Charros are loosing!
