Universidad de Guadalajara (UdeG) Rector Ricardo Villanueva came to Chapala Tuesday, October 25 to join Mayor Alejandro Aguirre to announce that the university will launch operations of its Chapala branch in January 2023.
Registration of candidates for enrollment in nursing and gerontology courses opened at 1 p.m. the same day. By the time Villanueva started his speech 90 minutes later in the City Hall lobby, he reported that nine prospective students had registered and one of them was headed for the bank to pay the filing fee. Admission exams will be applied on Saturday, November 12.
The rector explained that initially 40 students will be admitted in each field of study for the Calendar A cycle beginning on January 16, 2023. The same number will be accepted for the Calendar B cycle starting on August 14. Openings may be increased according to demand.
Other degree programs will be added as the Centro Universitario Chapala project develops in the future.
