As part of her push to introduce a new waste management model, Guadalajara Mayor Verónica Delgadillo is advocating for greater citizen co-responsibility and urging residents to reduce their waste to less than one kilogram per day.
According to Delgadillo, each resident of Guadalajara generates approximately 1,300 kilograms of garbage annually, amounting to more than 10,800 tons of waste produced citywide every day.
Like other cities globally, Guadalajara is considering rewarding residents who cut down their personal waste and adopt more sustainable practices. However, Delgadillo has not yet specified what these incentives will entail.
In the coming weeks, Delgadillo is expected to unveil details of the municipality’s new comprehensive waste management model.
