The 60th edition of Fiestas de Octubre, Guadalajara’s month-long annual state fair, kicks off this weekend at the Benito Juarez fairgrounds, located on the northern edge of the metro area. This annual family-friendly event offers a wide variety of Mexican-style fun, including games, food stalls, vendors’ booths and mechanical games.
Admission is 60 pesos for adults (30 pesos for children and senior citizens), which includes entry to the main show, usually a musical performance, around 7 p.m.
The fairground opens daily at 11 a.m., but the activity and buzz typically cranks up in the evening hours just before the main show. The lineup of performers includes well-known names covering a wide range of genres, from rock and pop to mariachi and banda, and sometimes even dance performances.
