Drug smuggler ingests cocaine

A 26-year-old woman from Peru who swallowed at least 35 packets of cocaine became ill shortly after arriving at the Guadalajara International Airport Wednesday.


Woman dies at makeshift plastic surgery clinic

A 35-year-old woman has died at a residential home doubling as a cosmetic surgery clinic in Tlaquepaque while having a liposuction intervention. Officials say the clinic was unlicensed. The doctor who treated Flores, Oscar Raul Macias Parada, has been detained and the house closed for further investigation. 

Doctors plan marches Sunday

Hundreds of doctors will march in 53 cities – including Guadalajara – on Sunday, June 22 in support of 16 colleagues in Jalisco who face jail terms after being found guilty of medical negligence following the death of a 15-year-old boy at an IMSS pediatric hospital in 2011.

City’s Immigration office moves to ground floor level

Foreigners should find their dealings at the National Immigration Institute (INM) in Guadalajara far more comfortable now that the federal agency has moved from the fourth floor of the Palacio Federal to a new, larger office on the ground floor.
