Semana Santa gets underway on Palm Sunday – March 24 – with religious processions and church services commemorating Jesus Christ’s triumphal entry into Jerusalem. Pilgrims carry herbal bouquets or symbolic figures fashioned from palm fronds purchased from street vendors, to be blessed with holy water by the clerics.

Ajijic town administrator (delegado) Hector España has made big strides during his first month in office, garnering solid backing from the expat community.

Chapala Mayor Joaquin Huerta has been threatened with  a possible 15-day forced suspension from his duties, without pay, stemming from a labor suit filed against the city by a former city hall official.

Expanded boundaries for metered parking in downtown Chapala will go into effect as of Tuesday, March 19.
