Citizens urged to report corruption

Jalisco’s Specialized Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office (FACJ) scheduled two visits of its itinerant caravan at lakeside this month.

Agents of the public prosecutor’s office and the investigation police set up a post at the Ajijic plaza on Thursday, February 6, to register citizen complaints against public servants who have taken advantage of their positions to obtain illicit benefits for themselves or anyone else.

The FACJ caravan will return on Thursday, February 13 for a session at the Jocotepec plaza, set for 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Complaints may also be registered online at fiscaliaanticorrupcion.jalisco.gob.mx/denuncia/.

Common violations of anti-corruption laws include: Bribery; Improper exercise and abandonment of public service; Abuse of power or authority; Unlawful use of power and authority; embezzlement; illicit enrichment; and crimes committed in the administration of justice and other branches of public power.

Traffic stops executed in the Chapala-Jocotepec corridor in which officers suggest mordidas in lieu of issuing tickets for violations are a frequent beef among local motorists.
