New route: Volaris cuts travel time from Guadalajara to Ixtapa

Low-cost airline Volaris has announced the launch of a new route connecting Guadalajara with one of Mexico’s most popular Pacific Coast resorts. Starting on November 2, the airline will offer four weekly flights to Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo, a pair of neighboring tourist towns in Guerrero known for their distinct vibes.

pg9bIxtapa is a modern resort destination, featuring high-rise hotels, golf courses and stunning beaches. In contrast, Zihuatanejo is a charming fishing village with a more laid-back atmosphere, cobblestone streets, and vibrant local markets.

The 50-minute flights will operate on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays. Bookings are already open for travelers.

Zihuatanejo, a designated Pueblo Mágico, is located just ten minutes from Ixtapa and is renowned for its European-like charm. Two of the area’s beaches, Playa La Ropa and Playa Las Gatas, are consistently ranked among the finest in Mexico.

This new nonstop flight from Guadalajara to Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo offers a convenient alternative to the 7.5-hour drive or the current flight option with a layover in Mexico City, which takes between three to four hours.
