MovieSpace has canceled the Met Live Opera screening of “Media” on October 22 and suspended all future screenings of Met Opera Live at Centro Laguna Mall. The Chapala Opera Guild has suspended promotion and funding.
With only a 10 day notice before the first Met Opera HD Live presentation on October 22, MovieSpace Cinema was verbally informed by Mr. Oscar, the administrator of Centro Laguna Mall, that they are removing all support from the Mall for the transmission of the operas. MovieSpace has thus informed the Guild that it sees no option but to cancel this and future performances.
MovieSpace reports that customers with paid tickets may return to the theater for reimbursement.
Chapala Opera Guild President, Howard Willis expressed his frustration with the surprise cancellation notice from MovieSpace management vís a vie the Centro Laguna Mall management’s lack of cooperation.
