Unitarian Universalists

Ted Fahy will present “How Does It Feel to Be a Number?” at the next meeting of the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, Sunday, June 15, noon.

We live in a world where we are told that we are either predictable commodities or victims of random events–in either case implying that we have little or no control over our own lives. We will explore how these dual characterizations are caricatures of two of our deepest human experiences–ritual and acceptance–and how we might otherwise think about our lives.

Priscilla Taylor will be the service associate.

The Lake Chapala Unitarian Universalist Fellowship’s new location at San Luis 19 in Riberas del Pilar and online. See lakechapalauu.org for a Zoom link.

Lakeside Presbyterian

The sermon for Sunday, June 15, is “ I AM the Bread of Life” from John 6:46-58.

When Jesus said to the crowd of people he had just fed, “I AM the bread of life,” they were disappointed. They had hoped for more physical food. Jesus was offering them life. Even after Jesus explained himself, they were so eager for free food that they couldn’t hear him. This week our sermon is about the nourishment Jesus offers us as the bread of life itself.

English language service begins at 10 a.m. at Constitución 26, in Ajijic, 2nd floor. Enter through the back garage area and walk upstairs to the service.

Join us for coffee and refreshments after the service.

Lake Chapala Baptist

What does it mean to love a father? At his best, a father loves, provides, protects, and nurtures. Scripture describes both tenderness and authority in revealing God’s fatherly heart. As Isaiah 64:8 says, “We are the clay, and you are our potter.” Jesus calls God “Abba” (Romans 8:15), inviting us into intimacy. While earthly fathers can fail, we’re still called to honor them—not from obligation, but with gratitude and grace. Honoring a father means recognizing his role, appreciating his efforts, and extending forgiveness. It’s a lifelong posture of the heart—obedience to God’s command, rooted in love.
