Homage
A Mother’s Day special featuring the music of three greats of Mexican music: Agustin Lara, Jose Alfred Jimenez and Juan Gabriel. An orchestra, a mariachi band and a trio interpret a selection of much-loved works. The show also includes folk dancing.
Jalisco Ballet & OFJ
With children very much in mind, the Ballet de Jalisco and the Jalisco Philharmonic Orchestra team up for two performances of a ballet based on the famous poem, “The Pied Piper of Hamelin.”
Australia will be the invited country at this year’s 22nd Festival Cultural de Mayo, set for May 7 to 31 in metro area Guadalajara.
Tlaqueparte, the crafts fair that showcases more than 200 exhibitors from all over Latin America, runs Friday, May 3 through Monday, May 6 at Expo Guadalajara (Avenida Mariano Otero and Las Rosas).
Jalisco Philharmonic Orchestra
The final concert in the OFJ’s first season of 2019 welcomes guest conductor Iván del Prado (Cuba). Works by Massenet. Deletes, Thomas, Rossini and Sibelius. The invited artist is soprano Anabel de la Mora.
After receiving rave reviews in previous years, the Ballet de Jalisco returns with three presentations of the ballet “The Hunchback of Notre-Dame,” featuring the music of Rachmaninoff, Tchaikowsky, Wolf-Ferrari, Saint-Säenz, Moniuszko, and Khachaturian. Choreography is by troupe director Dariusz Blajer.
