New hope for decades-old Guadalajara airport conflict?

A chink of light has emerged in the long-drawn-out battle between a farmers’ cooperative (ejido) and the federal government over the Guadalajara Airport and compensation payments dating back over three decades.

Last week, representatives of the Zapote ejido agreed in principle to sell 150 hectares of land to federal authorities, to be used to construct a second runway and expand the airport’s terminal.
