The stained glass and wall hangings at St. Mark’s Anglican Church in Guadalajara were backdrop for a solemn ceremony Friday, February 3, in which Pamela Hosey Long was ordained a priest.
Alongside her were dozens of brightly dressed bishops and other clerics as the Western Diocese of Mexico held a synod and commemoration of 50 years as a diocese.
Hosey Long recently came to Guadalajara from Montgomery, Alabama, as a deacon in the Episcopal Church, “but Bishop Ricardo invited me to consider ordination to the priesthood in Mexico in his Diocese and serve a church here. And St. Mark’s issued a call to me.”
She is a retired Spanish professor and has been well received at St. Mark’s.
“I’ve heard three of Pamela’s sermons and they were all good and well prepared,” said Shammah Anu Natarajan, the daughter of two Methodist ministers. “She doesn’t lose track of the message.”
