The Hard Rock brand has experienced mixed fortunes in western Mexico: the Puerto Vallarta cafe is a popular hang-out but the eatery and live performance venue in Guadalajara’s Centro Magno mall closed after less than three years in business.
Now the iconic firm’s hotel operation is taking another plunge in Vallarta by transforming the Palace Resort Hotel in the Riviera Nayarit into an all-inclusive Hard Rock hotel.
Along with similar projects planned at Palace Resorts hotels in Cancun and the Riviera Maya, Hard Rock International says it plans to “bring the acclaimed Hard Rock experience to these popular Mexican tourist destinations.”
Each hotel will remain fully operational as an existing Palace Resorts property during the conversion process.
According to a press release, each hotel will “offer Hard Rock’s signature Rock Star Suites and will showcase an extensive collection of authentic memorabilia from international and local music artists, while incorporating diverse music genres throughout. Additionally, in keeping with the Hard Rock tradition, each property will host an ongoing schedule of live concerts, celebrity-driven soirees and other exciting on-site events.”
Notes the release: “Cancun, Puerto Vallarta and Riviera Maya are perennially popular Mexican vacation spots and a natural draw for Hard Rock patrons.”
The Riviera Nayarit hotel will boast 348 guest rooms, four restaurants, four bars, a new Moon Lounge, spa, two swimming pools, and 6,300 square feet of meeting facilities. It is expected to open in mid 2012.
Existing Hard Rock hotels and casinos are located in Las Vegas, Biloxi, Orlando, Chicago, San Diego, Pattaya, Bali, Macau, Penang, Singapore and Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic.
