Lady of the rosary heads home

Ajijic’s month of observances honoring the Virgen del Rosario  come to a climax Thursday, October 31. A colorful procession departs from the back side of the San Andres parish around 4:30 p.m., as danzante troupes outfitted in exotic costumes, scenic floats, a drum and bugle corps and the inevitable blasts of sky rockets lead the entourage of pilgrims around town.

Lakeside Chamber of Commerce delegate Yoly Martinez hands over a 10,000-peso check to Cruz Roja Chapala board president Oscar España (left) and his VP Norm Pifer. The full amount of the donation came from a pledge made by the administrator of Chapala’s parking meter system at last month’s Mariachi Festival show in Ajijic. Martinez says that additional proceeds from the event will be delivered once the accounting procedures are finalized.

Lake Chapala Society to host non-profit summit

Representatives of all Lakeside-area charity organizations and non-profit groups are invited to attend a summit meeting to be held Wednesday, November 6, 1:30 p.m., at the Lake Chapala Society (LCS) gazebo.
