Hilton Garden airport hotel opens

The Hilton Garden Inn, the new hotel located right beside the main terminal at the Guadalajara International Airport, opened its doors to guests just prior to the Easter break. The hotel is the Hilton brand’s 15th in Mexico, and fifth in Guadalajara.

The hotel has 180 rooms, an all-day restaurant, a 24-hour fitness center, and meeting and events spaces, including one ballroom for up to 100 guests and three event rooms for up to 50 participants.  The hotel currently employs around 80 people.

The hotel is part of a major infrastructure development at the airport, which includes the construction of a second runway and a second terminal, as well as upgrades to parking facilities and many other areas.

A hotel at the Guadalajara airport operated in the 1990s, but did not meet the required quality of such accommodations, and closed quickly.

The other hotels in Hilton’s Guadalajara portfolio are the Hilton Guadalajara Midtown, DoubleTree by Hilton Guadalajara Centro Historico, Hampton by Hilton Guadalajara Expo and Hampton Inn by Hilton Guadalajara-Aeropuerto.

A Hilton Garden Inn Aeropuerto price check on booking.com shows a one-night stay for two people, Saturday, June 1 to Sunday, June 2: Double room with two double beds: 1,915 pesos (US$116), non-refundable, including taxes and charges; rising to 2,068 pesos ($US125) with free cancellation, and 2,561 pesos ($US155) with breakfast included.

The hotel is located right beside the main terminal. A selling point for avgeeks is likely to be the rooms that have a view of the airport’s apron and runway.
