• Timothy Welch will join violinist Juanpi Medeles in a concert, “Corazon Mestizo: From Folklore to Concert Music,” at Casa Floresta, Thursday, April 24, 3 p.m. Through works by de Falla, Hermilio Hernandez, Manuel M. Ponce, Piazzolla and Bela Bartok, they will explore soundscapes inspired by Spanish, Hungarian, Argentine, and Mexican folklore, in a dialogue with classical tradition. Tango workshops and practice sessions this weekend with Lalo at Calle Sapotito 13 in San Juan Cosala.
April 5: workshop, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.; practice: 3:30 to 7 p.m.
April 6: workshop, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.; Milonga, 3 to 8 p.m.

Exhibits
• Artist Rocío Vera showcases a visual and emotional journey of memories of her hometown through print-making, with the exhibit “Pueblo y Tinta,” at the Centro para la Cultura y las Artes de la Ribera. The exhibition will run until Friday, May 4.
• A spectacular exhibition featuring the work of ten members of the Lake Chapala Society Photo Club, all between the ages of 12 and 16, is on display at the Open Air Gallery (GALA) in the town’s main plaza. The exhibition will be up for several months.

• The Efrén Gonzalez Children’s Art Program is selling reproductions of art created by the kids in the program. The sale takes place on Saturday, April 5 at the Centro Laguna Mall Art Connection’s “Art in the Plaza” exhibition from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Come out and browse the catalogue of these charming art cards. Half of all proceeds are paid to the child artists.

Comedy at The BRAVO!
The Elayne Boosler Stand Up Comedy Show is Thursday, April 10, at 4 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. and Friday April 11, at 7:30 p.m. (the 4 p.m. show is sold out for Friday.)
Boosler is recognized as one of Comedy Central’s “Greatest 100 Stand-Up Comedians of All Time,” and one of Rolling Stone’s “50 Best Stand-Up Comics of All Time,” as well as “The First Lady of Stand-Up Comedy.” San Francisco comedian Lisa Geduldig will open the shows. (See interview on page 11.)
