Cabañas tour

pg12a

The Lake Chapala Society is hosting a tour of the Cabañas Museum in Guadalajara on Wednesday, June 18, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. A bilingual guide will lead visitors through José Clemente Orozco’s powerful murals, the stunning neoclassical architecture, and current temporary exhibits. After the tour, participants will have free time to explore downtown, visit the Cathedral, relax in the Plaza de Armas, and enjoy lunch at a local restaurant. Tickets are available at lakechapalasociety.org.

pg12bOpen Circle

On Sunday, June 8, Open Circle hosts a Community Open Mic Conversation from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.

For those unfamiliar, Open Circle is more than just a Sunday tradition—it’s a space for reflection, connection, and growth. This week, the community is invited to help shape its future by responding to questions like: What topics and speakers inspire you? What keeps you coming—or not coming—on Sundays? How can Open Circle better serve this community?

You don’t have to speak to participate—just come, listen, take it in, and be part of the energy. If you’d prefer to share your thoughts in writing, a short, simple survey will be available.

Democrats Abroad

Everyone is invited to join the Lake Chapala Democrats Abroad for a Sign-Making Party on Monday, June 9 at 4 p.m. at La Estación Pizza Restaurant, Hidalgo 75 in Riberas (above Pancho’s East).

The signs will be used at the No Tyrants / Hands Off! Rally on Saturday, June 14, taking place in Ajijic Plaza in front of the Ajijic Cultural Center from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. All are welcome to attend.

This rally is part of a coordinated movement in solidarity with more than 1,400 No Tyrants / No Kings / Hands Off! events happening across the U.S. and around the world.

Chapala Birders

Thursday, June 12 – Meet Lake Chapala Birders team leader Robert Taylor at 8 a.m. at the San Antonio Malecón parking lot for a guided walk of the area.

Around 9:30 a.m., the group will head to Café Negro for breakfast and to complete the bird list. Please confirm your attendance at least two days in advance by emailing Robert Taylor at This email address is being protected from spambots. How to find the parking lot:  Because of San Antonio’s one-way streets, follow these directions carefully: From Ajijic, drive past Walmart and the Coca-Cola warehouse. At the traffic light, turn downhill onto San José/Allen Lloyd. Continue downhill and turn right onto La Paz at the shrine (one block before the lake). Then turn left at the T-intersection and go one block to reach the parking lot.
