Mac Morison returns to Club Exotica Friday, March 6, as host and headliner of his seventh benefit concert entitled “Let Me Try Again.”

For those of you who may be new to the Ajijic arts scene, Mac sings songs from the era of jazz standards that many of us fell in and out of love to. And he sings them for you in a marvelous baritone that will remind you of many of the greats who sang them for you in the past: Frank Sinatra, Mel Torme, Vic Damone, Tony Bennett and many others.

A favorite in recent years at Ajijic’s Sunday morning event, the Compañía de Ópera de Jalisco, founded in 2013, returns February 16, 10:30 a.m., for a performance of art songs of Mexico and Latin America, which is expected to once again leave the audience “in a haze of euphoria,” according to Lake Chapala Society organizer Margaret Van Every. 

Dave McIntosh directs Lakeside Little Theatre’s production of “My Fair Lady,” the award-winning story of a cockney flower girl transformed into an elegant lady.

Twenty-six eight-member teams and one four-member team competed in the 11th Trivia Quizzes event organized through Niños Incapacitados and held at the Hotel Real de Chapala January 14.

Ajijic’s Carnaval celebrations kick off this weekend with the first of the local rodeos to be held on three consecutive Sundays, February 2, 9 and 16, 4:30 p.m., at the Lienzo Charro arena, Calle Revolución a block south of the highway.

Celtic and jazz violinist Miranda Mulholland and harpist Tara Minton perform at the Auditorio de la Ribera Monday, February 10, 7:30 p.m., as part of the Northern Lights Festival de Febrero.
