Amcham one decade on

In 2005, the American Chamber of Commerce marked 40 years in Guadalajara with a celebration that recognized the work of diplomat and entrepreneur Adolf Horn (left photo), who started the local chapter in 1965.

Serving as its president until 2002, Horn helped attract numerous corporations to Guadalajara, including Kodak, Motorola and AT&T. He died in 2007 at the age of 95.  Last week, the Guadalajara chapter marked its 50th anniversary with a gala dinner at the Cabañas Institute.

At the annual meeting, Fernando Niño de Guzman was named the seventh president in the chapter’s history. The former director general of Hershey’s Foods in Mexico, he currently occupies the same position at the Dulces Montes candy company. Addressing members, Niño de Guzman revealed that 800 million dollars’ worth of direct investment from the United States will be coming Jalisco’s way before the end of the year.
