The snowbirds are landing in Puerto Vallarta so the social scene is heating up.
Game, Set, Match
The Sheraton Buganvilias Tennis Club’s four newly refurbished, lighted, hard courts will see some hard hitting action during the Peugot sponsored Tennis Tournament, November 6 to 8. The matches run from early morning until nighttime, depending on the amount of entries. Tennis Club Director Martin Parra has been promoting tennis in the area for over ten years.
The tournament is expected to draw players from all parts of Mexico, as well as locals and tourists with about 130 or more participants expected. The categories are men’s and women’s singles, men’s and women’s doubles and mixed doubles. They include categories A, B, C and D playing levels and kid’s tournaments, with groupings of 10, 12 and 14 years of age.
To register or for more information, go to the Sheraton Tennis Club and see Tennis Director Martin Parra or Assistant Director Roberto Padilla. If you need to call, the toll-free number in Mexico is +52 (800) 326-4600. Reserve a spot for the event. Be aware that registration closes on November 2.
Green Thumbs

Sunset Toast
Expats in Vallarta is an informal social group that promotes fellowship and assistance for residents or visitors living, working or investing around Vallarta – or simply considering it. They have many activities during the year with several planned in November.
The season kick-off parties will be on Tuesday, November 3 and Tuesday, November 17 at Langostino’s Restaurant and Bar, from 5 to 7 p.m. It is located right on the beach, just north of Los Muertos pier on the malecon.
This is a great way to relax, enjoy wonderful food and drinks and mingle with other expats. You can make new friends, watch the sunset, ask questions about living in Puerto Vallarta and have a good time.
To make reservations for the Expats in Vallarta Happy Hour, visit ExpatsInVallarta.com. They need to give Langostino’s a head count, so be sure to note how many people are in your party.
A neighborhood coffee is scheduled Tuesday, November 10, 10 a.m. at the Starbucks in the Marina. Reservations are not necessary.
Expats in Vallarta is open to all expats and there are no membership fees or requirements for events. Everyone pays for what they use or consume. The purpose of the group is both to provide fun social events where members can meet friends and create new friendships and to provide a meaningful resource for expats already living here and those considering making the move to the Banderas Bay area.
Tours Plus
There are now two new ways to have some organized fun in Vallarta. This winter season Vallarta Bar Hopping is offering Paint the Town Red and Art Tour PV.
Paint the Town Red runs on Mondays and meets at 5:15 p.m. at Tre Piatti Italian Restaurant, Lazaro Cardenas 292, in the Old Town. Says tour co-owner and escort Christie Selph: “We are excited to be partnering with Act II Entertainment and The Palm to offer their shows to our guests. This is a dinner-theater highlighting the many talented musical and other entertainment performers booked at these venues.”
The escorted evening includes a welcome cocktail, wine tasting, and a three-course meal. After dinner, enjoy preferred seating at either Act II (The Red Room or Main Stage) or The Palm Cabaret, along with two drinks and a nightcap following the show. All gratuities are included. Private groups are accommodated on other nights upon request. Advance reservations are strongly suggested. The tours begin on November 9 and the price is US$129 per person.
Art Tour PV is a guided art tour featuring private meetings with artists from four of the South Side galleries: Galeria Dante, Contempo Galeria, Cassandra Shaw and Kathleen Carrillo.
“Part of the focus of this tour is to take advantage of the great art galleries in old town Vallarta,” says tour company representative Nic Van Zyl. “We wanted to give guests an arts and culture experience by meeting international artists.”
Part of the tour includes a Mexican wine tasting at Di Vino Dante, run by Gena Guarniere, who says, “There are surprisingly many great Mexican wines.” The evening includes two wine tastings, escort, full meal and all gratuities and meets every Thursday from November 5, 5:15 p.m. at Galleria Dante, Basilio Badillo 269, on the South Side. The cost is US$69 per person.
Both tours including some light walking and involve stairs. A minimum of four persons is required. If the tour cannot operate, guests will receive a year credit or full refund. For full information and booking see ArtTourPV.com.
