Consulate lauds teaching institute

The U.S. Consulate in Guadalajara Wednesday held a celebration to honor Guadalajara’s Instituto Mexicano Norteamericano (IMN), an institution that has been teaching  English to Mexican citizens for 67 years.  


Dog adoption event Sunday

A dog adoption event is planned during the Via RecreActiva on Sunday, January 31, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Parque Azuela (off Av. Vallarta between Los Arcos and the Minerva Glorieta). 

Feeding the homeless in Guadalajara

Around 50 patrons have responded this winter to Guadalajara city hall’s “Adopt a Dinner” campaign to provide nutritious meals to homeless denizens in the metro area. Donors agree to provide a full meal on a given day for 65 homeless persons at the Centro de Atención y Desarrollo Integral para Personas en Situación de Indigencia (CADIPSI), located to one side of the Agua Azul Park.

Christmas shapes up at city’s English-speaking congregations

St. Mark’s Anglican

St. Mark’s Anglican Church will celebrate Christmas Eve in a big way with a candle lighting service beginning at 7 p.m., Thursday, December 24, accompanied by its 12-member choir with regular, invited and professional singers. Debbie Matthew directs about a dozen traditional carols and choral anthems, capped by “Silent Night” during the candle lighting ceremony and Handel’s “Hallelujah Chorus” as a finale.
