True Wealth
A wealth of experience gathered Wednesday January 22nd, 9 a.m. as it does all year round, at the Cabo Blanco Hotel in the heart of Barra de Navidad. Teachers, artists, entrepreneurs, parents and partners filled the seats of the Costalegre Rotary Club breakfast meeting. The invisible bond connecting those present was a sincere concern for the Family of Man.
Festival Del Mar
The five-day Festival del Mar Melaque Costalegre from December 10-14 was described by municipal tourism director and organizer Francisco Carrillo Torres as “the foundation of much bigger things to come.”
Journeyman drummer Ian Hoffman moved to Barra de Navidad five years ago after traveling extensively throughout Mexico. He says he is “amazed and excited” by all the talented musicians who now play in the area, including many students from the Instituto Universitario de Bellas Artes de Colima.
With snowbirds and tourists trickling back to Barra de Navidad and Melaque, now seems the right time to provide a sampling of watering holes and restaurants to begin one’s coastal adventure. We’ll start with a few popular and friendly locales that feature good music, food, cold cerveza or a mojito cocktail or two.
Officials in Jalisco and Puerto Vallarta, in the face of Covid-19, are hoping for a little-quieter-than-normal Semana Santa, but that doesn’t mean Tapatios will resist the lure of the beaches of the Bay of Banderas.
Races
To celebrate the Día de Amor y Amistad (Valentine’s Day), two races, sponsored by the Municipal Sports Advisory Committee (Comude), will be held on Sunday, February 14 along two areas: the Malecon and the Rio Pitillal linear parkway.
