After a disappointing start to the season, the Jalisco Charros baseball team went on a seven-game winning streak to shoot into second position of the ten-team Mexican Pacific League standings.
The Charros – the 2018-19 LMP champions – defeated the Mayos de Navoyoa 3-2 in a tight contest Monday, October 28 at their home stadium to make it seven in a row, before falling to the same team in the first game of a double-header the following afternoon. The Charros won the second game Tuesday evening to finish the day in third place in the LMP standings (11-6).
As soon as that game ended, staff at the Charros Stadium began the task of preparing the venue for group stage games in the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) Premier12 2019, a prestigious international competition that this year is also doubling as the 2020 Olympic Games qualifier.
Mexico, the United States, the Netherlands and the Dominican Republic will duke it out Saturday, November 2 through Tuesday, November 5 at the Charros Stadium to see which nation advances to the Super Round in Tokyo, Japan, November 11-16.
