Guadalajara ‘Opens Doors’ for its police officers

The Guadalajara municipal government, in collaboration with the local branch of the National Restaurant Chamber (Canirac), has launched the “Puertas Abiertas” (“Open Doors”) initiative, offering police officers discounts and special services at participating restaurants.

Mayor Verónica Delgadillo explained that the program is designed to recognize and support active police officers by providing exclusive benefits such as meal discounts, complimentary non-alcoholic beverages, access to restrooms, Wi-Fi, common areas, and charging stations for electronic devices.

Additionally, officers involved in the arrest or prevention of high-impact crimes will be eligible for free family meals as part of the initiative.

Beyond honoring the work of municipal police, Delgadillo emphasized that the program aims to promote a culture of respect and shared responsibility between the public and law enforcement.

So far, more than 200 businesses have joined the initiative. Originally launched in Zapopan, Puertas Abiertas is expected to expand throughout the Guadalajara metropolitan area and other parts of Jalisco.

In a related move, the Guadalajara municipal government also announced updates to its Business in Touch strategy, which aims to better connect local businesses with the C5 regional video surveillance center to enhance public safety.
