Exploring the mystery of peering through the rain

A collection of works by distinguished Ajijic artist Xill Fessenden will be showcased in a solo exhibition opening on Friday, September 13, at 5 p.m. in the gallery at the Centro para la Cultura y las Artes de la Ribera (CCAR).

Titled “Bajo la Lluvia” (Under the Rain), the exhibit features photographs and installation pieces created over recent months, exploring the visual mysteries that emerge when looking through rain and how these distort or transform everyday experiences.

“As we see with new vision, we become more aware of the climatic changes around us and may seek solutions to the needs of all living creatures,” Fessenden explains.  “As part of my preparations for this show, I have collected exoskeletons of cicadas (rainbirds), which will be included in one of my installations.”

The exhibit runs through October 11. Gallery hours are Wednesday to Saturday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. CCAR is located in La Floresta, on the south side of the highway.
