You can experience the genius of painter, inventor, scientist and astronomer Leonardo Da Vinci at the Da Vinci Genius Immersive Experience (Da Vinci il Genio), which will continues its run at Plaza Patria in Guadalajara until at least May 23.
Immersive “commercial” exhibitions using AI technology are the latest “fashionable” pastime for people with a reasonable amount of disposable income, and Plaza Patria has become the focal point of such shows in the metropolitan area. Da Vinci Genius follows on the heels of the Van Gogh immersive experience held last year in the same venue.
One of the aims of such attractions is to integrate the spectators into the performance through multi-sensoral digital displays, including 360-degree projections, holograms and surround sound, to create a “dream-like” ambience. For example, remarking on the digital rendering of Da Vinci’s painting of the Last Supper, one reviewer said, “(It) is examined from a compositional and perspective point of view, with an interactive layer which then allows visitors to draw themselves inside the famous fresco.”
Adds the show’s promotional blurb: “To crown this experience there will be full-scale reproductions of many of the machines engineered by Da Vinci so that you can clearly appreciate the privileged mind of this fascinating character.”
Da Vinci il Genio is open daily from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Spaces for visiting can be booked and paid for online at davincigdl.com, or at the box office in Plaza Patria. Cost for adults is 400 pesos, and 300 pesos for children. Approximate duration of visit: one hour.
